Endometriosis & period pain · Calgary SE

Period pain is common. That doesn't mean you have to live with it.

A 12-week program with Kim for endometriosis and painful periods. We start with your pain, then work on what's driving it, one cycle at a time.

Does this sound familiar?

Every month, your life goes on hold.

You plan your work, your weekends and your social life around your cycle. Painkillers take the edge off for a few hours, if they work at all.

"I just want one month where my period doesn't take over my life."

The approach

Pain relief first. Then the root cause.

Traditional Chinese Medicine sees painful periods as a pattern, usually stagnation, cold or inflammation in the lower abdomen. Kim treats that pattern directly, with a plan built around your cycle.

  • Acupuncture timed to the phases of your cycle
  • Personalized TCM herbal support when appropriate
  • Gentle abdominal and low-back work to release tension
  • Diet, heat and lifestyle guidance you can use at home
  • Cycle and pain tracking so you can see the changes

Why a program, not a single session?

One treatment can ease a bad week. Real change happens over several cycles, because your body needs time to respond.

Over 12 weeks (about three periods), Kim can see how each cycle responds, adjust your treatment, and help you build habits that last after the program ends.

Your path, step by step

In her words

“After just the two first sessions, my life changed.”

“The pain is gone, my nights are restful again, I was able to get back to the gym, and my mood followed. I got my life back.”

A client of Kim, living with endometriosis for many years
Read her full story

I came to Kim skeptical, and honestly not excited about acupuncture at all, because of an unpleasant experience in the past. I mainly came for advice on herbs that might help me.

I had been living with endometriosis for many years. Even though I had been eating anti-inflammatory for several years, I was in pain every single day: constant lower back pain that woke me up several times a night, sore knees, headaches, and brain fog, among other symptoms. All of it wore on my mood. I had already tried everything, and I told myself I had nothing left to lose.

After just the two first sessions, my life changed. Yes, two. It’s the honest truth.

I don’t like needles, but Kim is so gentle that you feel them very little, if at all. My hesitation quickly turned into trust, and into something I had stopped hoping for: my symptoms disappeared. Not improved, disappeared. The pain is gone, my nights are restful again, I was able to get back to the gym, and my mood followed. I got my life back.

I’m continuing treatments to consolidate the results. My only regret is not going sooner.

I recommend Kim without any hesitation, with complete sincerity and real gratitude for her knowledge, her welcoming approach, her gentleness and her work. Thank you, Kim.

One client’s experience. Results vary from person to person.

Kim, women's health practitioner at Strong Therapy in Calgary
Meet your practitioner

Hi, I'm Kim.

I work with women who have been told their pain is "normal" for far too long. My job is to listen, find the pattern behind your symptoms, and help your body find its rhythm again.

At Strong Therapy, Bruno and I combine traditional TCM diagnosis (pulse, tongue and palpation) with a modern understanding of pain. We have over a decade of clinical experience. I'll work alongside your family doctor or gynecologist, never against them.

Questions

Before you book

Do I need an endometriosis diagnosis to join?

No. The program is for anyone with painful periods, suspected endometriosis, or a confirmed diagnosis. Kim works alongside your doctor or gynecologist, not instead of them.

Can I keep my current medication or birth control?

Yes. Never stop prescribed medication without talking to your physician. Acupuncture and TCM are used as a complementary approach.

Should I book the free call or the in-clinic visit?

If you have questions or aren't sure the program fits you, start with the free 15-minute online call. If you're ready to start, book the in-clinic visit. You get your first treatment the same day.

Does acupuncture hurt?

The needles are very fine, about the thickness of a hair. Most people feel a light tingle or heaviness, and many fall asleep on the table.

Is it covered by insurance?

Many extended health plans cover acupuncture. We offer direct billing with most major insurers, so check your plan's coverage.

Why 12 weeks?

12 weeks covers about three menstrual cycles. That gives enough time to treat the pain, follow how each cycle changes, and adjust the plan.

Is it suitable if I'm trying to conceive?

Yes. Let Kim know during your consultation and your plan will be adapted. You can also read about our acupuncture for fertility approach.
